Sunsets & Bubbles – 10/12/15

This week, I’m celebrating 6 months of my baby-project, my beloved Sunsets & Bubbles : )

The blog was launched on the 8th of June, but the adventure kicked off a few months earlier, when I started going on about the idea of running a blog…

I then reduced my working hours at my previous full time job in the travel industry…
Started thinking of a name…
Bought a domain and a theme…
Built the site, the image and the brand… -not without sharing a lot of headaches, laughs and tears via Skype London-NYC calls, with my best friend and graphic designer Isabel Bellido and with my superb London based web developer, Jamie from Bonn Agency
Read a hell of a lot of articles about blog writing, social media, SEO, WordPress, hashtags, the business of blogging…
Joined some workshops, networkings and tried to meet as many interesting peers as I possibly could…
Followed and read tones of profiles and feeds of professional travel & lifestyle bloggers, travel apps, magazines and all forms of editorial cool jobs out there…

And I could go on and on, as starting a blog from scratch and trying to make it your living is a whole of a thing!

I have enjoyed the ride so far like crazy… From the very scary moment of pressing the button “Publish” for the first ever blogpost, to initial blogposts that are only shared and read by your best friends and mum ; ) to start getting press passes to cover events and to review things, to be accepted as a regular contributor with The Huffington Post UK Blog to a very long etcétera…

It definitely has been a lot of hard work, but most of all, it definitely has been great fun! : )

I can definitely enumerate a whole bunch of things that I find incredibly fulfilling about blogging. One of the things that I genuinely enjoy, is the involvement of friends and family… When you start blogging, you obviously don’t have a team of editors, digital marketing & SEO guys, graphic designers, photographers, advisors, PR, as you may be used to on your daytime job… This is a lot of DIY, so you change hats throughout your day being all of those roles, one at a time…

But if you’re lucky you’ll have a bunch of amazing people that will be there to give you a hand every time you need them… I couldn’t have done things the way I’ve done them without the support, the help, the care and love of very amazing people around me… They all know who they are and I thank them all every day for being so patient, supportive and caring with me and with with S&B! : )

So, that gives me way to share with you 21 cool things that have happened along these last 6 months of blogging:

1- First things first… In order to get blog material, you have to do things…
And things mean for instance, brunch out with your friends, a lot more often than you used to before…

15- You have to eat burgers kind of often, because they’re as delicious to the taste, as they are to the lens… (Yes, I totally love them! hehe

21- Music, music and more music! If you follow the blog, you probably have realised that music plays a big role in it, as it does in my life… And as such, the blog is allowing me to do even more research, attending more live music events and experimenting more with new bands…

Having said that, and the 8th of December, was also the anniversary of the death of one of the greatest singers & songwriters of all times, John Lennon. It could not be any other way, here’s my tribute to him on the blog today with one of my favourite songs of him…

I genuinely hope you guys liked what you read and I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and other bloggers, photographers, freelancers, “startuppers” experiences in their project’s on early days…!

Massive huge thanks to everyone involved and to the readers for being there! Bring it on 2016, next stop… India! Yey! : )

Lots of love!
Charo

Stay tuned for all that’s coming in the next 6 months of Sunsets & Bubbles:
